about

Eumir Deodato "This is a very special, amazing sound."

kidkanevil "It sounds like Donuts meets Warp!"

Homecut "The incredible ONE ELEVEN ... concept album of 111 mind blowing tracks ... dope! Kinda stream of conciousness meets a dope beats and samples."

Here's the thing -

One Eleven produced an album of 111 tracks back in 2008. It's pretty amazing - a semi-autobiographical musical journey through his life. However soon after, his computer developed a mind of its own, decided to do a bit of autonomous spring cleaning, and wiped the whole album from its memory.

The only copy that is now known to exist is a CD that has just arrived at the First Word office, burnt from the original lost masters we assume. It too was lost for many years, but reappeared in December 2010. So we dusted it off, digitally removed the strange scorch marks from the audio images, and are now finally able to share it with the world in January 2011.

In a way it's all in keeping with the mysterious nature of this release - an idiosyncratic album that arrived in an idiosyncratic manner.

Enjoy!

Eleven notes on The One Eleven:

1) As well as being 111 tracks, the entire album ran for 1 hour 11 minutes.

2) Each track was originally no longer than 1 minute 11 seconds [the recordings here have two seconds of silence added at the end of each track].

3) Many of the tracks looped back on themselves to create longer tracks.

4) Each track related to a year from One's life. The first 35 tracks are titled chronologically (he was 35, allegedly, at the time of recording).

5) Track numbers 73 to 108 are thought to also represent a different take on the chronology (believed to reference the years of his existence from 1973 to 2008).

6) No-one knows what tracks 36 to 72 and 109 t0 111 refer to, [possibly their respective years in the 20th and 21st Centuries?].

7) Kidkanevil said of the original release, "It sounds like Donuts meets Warp!" and a shadowy Brazilian mega-producer, simply known by the code-name "Idea Routed Om" personally contacted One to offer his congratulations on the release.

8) The album's full original title was: "The One Eleven - a (retro)(re)(intro)(pro)(true per)spective journey towards personhood".

9) It is believed One used the album as a means to call forth ancient entities in the continued effort to transform the nature of the space-time continuum and release the future which is already now.

10) If one listens carefully to tracks 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91, 101, and 111 (the Undecimii as they were known) one may piece together the following hidden message: "How / do / we / rightly / interpret / and / re / appropriate / the / apocalyptic / hope".

11) There are many other possible notes which will have to wait for another time, perhaps it's worth mentioning finally that One claimed to have based the entirety of this album on reflections on two Beatles tracks:

Because, All You Need Is Love.
